Child & Youth Mental Health

BC Provincial Government

Child and Youth Mental Health (CYMH) is a voluntary counselling service for infants, children and youth (up to 18 years of age) who are experiencing mental health distress. As part of the provincial government’s Ministry of Children and Family Development, there are no end-user fees for CYMH services. CYMH clinicians are required to have, at minimum, a Master’s level of relevant education. Services typically include: intake and assessment; treatment and/or referral; and consultation. Services can also include: therapeutic groups; parenting education; skill development; access to psychiatric service; and mental health advocacy. Services are prioritized based on need.
