Northwest Child Development Centre

Northwest Child Development Centre-Regional BC

Our mission: The Northwest Child Development Centre Society serves children, youth, and families by providing direct and indirect services, therapy, supports and resources to promote healthy development. We work with community partners to build a comprehensive and integrated service system through sharing information, resources and ideas. We service 30 communities in the Northwest.

Infant Development Program

Consultants work with families with children aged birth to 3 years old. The program helps improve parenting capacity through education and experiential learning which promotes physical, intellectual and social development in young children.

Aboriginal Infant Development Program

Encourages active family and community participation in specialized programs for infants and children (birth to age three) optimizing early developmental skills. AIDP supports social learning from Elders and the children's family members, demonstrating ways in which traditional knowledge and culture can be combined with research findings to build children's resilience.

Early Intervention Program

Provides Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech/Language Pathology and Family Keyworker services. The team supports families who are experiencing challenges with learning, attention, communication, speech/language, school-readiness skills (pre-printing), appropriate behaviour, self-help skills (e.g. dressing or feeding), emotional regulation, or motor skills.

School-Aged Services

Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists provide assessment, consultation, and program recommendations to parents and teachers of children who are experiencing some difficulty in school. Referrals are made by the school district

Complex Developmental Behavioural Conditions

The Family Keyworkers provide support for Families with children and youth ages birth-19 years who may have Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) or other Complex Developmental Behavioural Conditions.  They offer guidance through the referral, assessment, diagnostic process and link families to appropriate community service providers.
